April 24, 2002 - Linacoustic(R) RC consists of thin, dense mat that reinforces coating, which penetrates mat and adheres firmly to insulation core. Permacote(R) acrylic polymer coating provides water resistance and EPA-registered protective agent to guard against growth of fungus and bacteria. Flame-attenuated glass fibers give core acoustical and thermal properties. Linacoustic RC meets or exceeds requirements of ASTM C 1071 for fibrous duct liner performance.

Mat Reinforces Coating in Next-Generation Duct Liner
DENVER, Colo. (April 1, 2002) - Linacoustic(R) RC, a new flexible duct liner from Johns Manville (JM), combines state-of-the-art facing technology with an advanced coating system to provide the durability of a mat facing with the reliability of a coating.
While traditional mat facings may provide additional damage resistance during handling, they are prone to separate from the insulation core. Coatings bond firmly to the insulation, but have a visibly rougher airstream surface. Linacoustic RC solves both these problems. A thin, dense mat reinforces the coating, which penetrates the mat and adheres firmly to the insulation core.
The coating is the same tough Permacote(R) acrylic polymer system used for more than a decade on JM's Permacote(R) Linacoustic duct liner. Not only does Permacote firmly
anchor the smooth, strong mat/coating composite to the insulation core, it further enhances performance with a high degree of water resistance and an EPA-registered protective agent to guard against potential growth of fungus and bacteria.
Flame-attenuated glass fibers give the Linacoustic RC core notably better acoustical and thermal properties than other leading liners. This makes it more economical to use because the same or better performance can be obtained with a thinner liner. Linacoustic RC meets or exceeds all requirements of ASTM C 1071 for fibrous duct liner performance.
