PerkinElmer Optoelectronics Introduces Its Newest Guided Arc Pulsed Xenon Flashlamp-- Extending Intensity and Performance of Light Sources for Biomedical and Analytical Applications
PerkinElmer Optoelectronics today introduced the FX-4400 High Output, Long Life, 60 Watt Guided Arc Pulsed Xenon Flashlamp. The FX-4400 provides a high-intensity, long-life light source with a compact high-output flashlamp that offers exceptional flexibility and performance. The FX-4400 offers unmatched intensity and stability to yield high throughput in analytical applications requiring large area illumination or simultaneous sample screening.
The lamp achieves superior optical collection efficiency through an integral parabolic reflector providing a concentrated output beam and operates at up to 60 Watts input power. The FX-4400 also features exceptional arc stability, microsecond pulse durations and a high-intensity continuous spectrum from deep UV to the far IR. The new design retains a compact form, with approximately the same measurements as a traditional pulsed xenon lamp, yet it provides up to 20 times the light output intensity. The FX-4400 flexible capabilities provide customers the option of taking advantage of the greatly increased light output or operating the product at reduced input energy for increased lamp life and stability, reducing or eliminating the need for periodic maintenance.
"The FX-4400 provides innovative flash technology for a number of analytical and clinical diagnostic applications," said Ted Alfano, product manager for Analytical Light Systems. "In the area of molecular spectroscopy, as a prime example, the FX-4400 provides a powerful emission source to ensure the measurement of a given sample is accurate and consistent through multiple tests. Without a highly stable emission source, pulse to pulse variations can skew results. This is particularly important in patient diagnostics where pathogen levels in blood or bacterial resistance to antibodies, must be measured accurately to diagnose health or treat an ailment properly."
Instrument OEM's and designers will find that the FX-4400 is exceptional for a wide variety of applications including absorption spectroscopy, fluorimetry, HPLC, colorimetry and stroboscopy.
