CoF Reducing Additive has low foaming formulation.

October 6, 2009 - Reactive silicone glycol surfactant with carbinol functionality, Dow Corning 55N provides abrasion resistance, leveling, and slip to clear and pigmented paints, coatings, and inks without generating excessive foam or compromising gloss or clarity of finished coating. Low VOC additive performs well in water-based, solvent-based, and UV-curable systems and is compatible with wide range of resins, including alkyd, acrylic, epoxy and polyurethane.

Performance, Aesthetics and Sustainability: New Dow Corning® 55N Additive Eliminates the Need for Compromise in High-Performance Coatings

MIDLAND, MICHIGAN, USA: Dow Corning has introduced an innovative performance-enhancing additive that brings excellent abrasion resistance, leveling and slip to clear and pigmented paints, coatings and inks without generating excessive foam or compromising the gloss or clarity of the finished coating.

New Dow Corning 55N Additive has also been found to improve coating hardness and recoatability in certain water-based coating applications.

Paints, coatings and inks with a high coefficient of friction (CoF) are susceptible to damage both during application and throughout the life of the coated piece. Dow Corning 55N Additive reduces CoF without the poor recoatability, gloss reduction and foaming problems commonly associated with CoF-reducing additives.

A reactive silicone glycol surfactant with carbinol functionality, Dow Corning 55N Additive is designed for use in paints, coatings and inks for wood, metal and plastic. It performs well in water-based, solvent-based and UV-curable systems and is compatible with a wide range of resins, including alkyd, acrylic, epoxy and polyurethane.

"With its low volatile organic content, environmentally acceptable solvent and multiple benefits for water-based systems, Dow Corning 55N Additive is an excellent choice for manufacturers who want to differentiate themselves in the marketplace by the performance, aesthetics and sustainability of their paints, coatings and inks," said Chris Wall, Dow Corning Global Coatings Major Market Leader.
