Near-IR Filters are optimized for retina-safe lasers.

September 17, 2009 - Used as laser source clean-up filters, 25 mm dia hard-coated bandpass filters can also be used as detection filters, which pass particular laser wavelengths and eliminate background over full InGaAs detector range of 850-1,750 Nm. Filters suit Er-doped fiber and glass lasers at 1,535 Nm, Er-doped fiber and InGaAsP semiconductor lasers at 1,550 Nm, and Nd:YAG-pumped optical parametric oscillators at 1,570 Nm. Applications include laser radar, remote sensing, range-finding, and LIBS.

Near-Infrared Bandpass Filters Now Available from Semrock

ROCHESTER, N.Y., September 11, 2009 - Semrock has announced the release of a new series of bandpass filters that demonstrate the extension of its high-performance optical filter technology to the popular near-infrared wavelength range. These highly reliable, hard-coated bandpass filters are keyed to popular laser lines in the 1500 - 1600 nm region.

The new near-IR filters are ideal as laser source clean-up filters, and as detection filters which pass particular laser wavelengths and virtually eliminate background over the full InGaAs detector range (850 - 1750 nm). They are optimized for the most popular "retina-safe" lasers in the 1.5 µm wavelength range, where maximum permissible eye exposures are much higher than in the visible or at the 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser line.

Applications for these filters include laser radar, remote sensing, range-finding, and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). The near-IR bandpass filters are a good match for Er-doped fiber and glass lasers at 1535 nm, Er-doped fiber and InGaAsP semiconductor lasers at 1550 nm, and Nd:YAG-pumped optical parametric oscillators (OPO's) at 1570 nm. Standard 25 mm diameter filters are available immediately from stock for $345, with custom sizes available in less than a week.

"Semrock is very pleased to be able to offer NIR optical filter manufacturing capabilities," said Turan Erdogan, Semrock's CTO.

Exceptional Semrock services include same-day shipping, rapid custom-sizing in under a week, and a 30-day no-hassle return policy. And all Semrock filters are covered under the company's five-year warranty.

ABOUT SEMROCK:
Semrock, Inc., a Unit of IDEX Corporation, manufactures optical filters that set the standard in performance and reliability for the biotech and analytical instrumentation industries, as well as innovative optical filters for more general laser and optical systems applications. All Semrock optical filters are made with hard ion-beam-sputtered optical coatings. OEM filters are manufactured in volume. End-users benefit from a wide selection of standard catalog products that ship from stock. Semrock's patented and patent-pending products include its highly acclaimed BrightLine® fluorescence filters, state-of-the-art filters for Raman spectroscopy, and other unique filters for lasers and optical systems. Semrock's innovative products, made possible by combining modern ion-beam sputtering with Semrock's proprietary volume manufacturing technology, are covered under a five-year warranty.

Founded in September 2000, Semrock is based in Rochester, New York, a well-known center of optics, and has sales offices throughout the United States.
