CATV Cable Fault Locator tests underground cables.

August 24, 2009 - Utilizing Time Domain Reflection technology along with analysis software, Model A0500007 tests underground cables to discover impedance break points in HFC systems and then locate/reveal cable damages, tie-in dampness, and terminal impedance failure. It can accurately test 25, 50, 75, and 100 W impedance cables at lengths of up to 2 km. Electronic map relevant to time domain picture aids in easy detection of faults and LCD screen displays time domain reflection.

Handheld Cable Fault Locator Has a High Tolerance for Noise Interference

Toronto, Canada - GAO Instruments (www.GAOInstruments.com) has released its CATV cable fault locator featuring a high tolerance for interference due to noise. This fault locator is specially designed to test underground cables to discover impedance break points in HFC systems and then locate and reveal cable damages, tie-in dampness, and terminal impedance failure.

Utilizing Time Domain Reflection (TDR) technology along with analysis software, GAO Instruments' cable fault locator displays time domain reflection on its LCD and analyzes the status of a cable. This CATV cable fault locator is able to accurately test 25, 50, 75 and 100 Ohm impedance cables at a length of up to 2km. The locator's intelligent "Self-study" function enables it to accumulate intelligence after calibrating and testing a given type of cable of a certain lengthso as to achieve high accuracy in subsequent tests on similar cables. The cable fault locator provides an electronic map relevant to a time domain picture so that faults can be detected easily. It can connect to a PC to upload files for data analysis.
