Optical Fork and Angle Sensors offer one-piece fixed-distance design.

August 18, 2009 - Available with transmitter and receiver in single housing, optical fork and angle sensors suit packaging and material handling applications. Fork housings are available with slot widths ranging from 10-120 mm, and angle widths in 60 and 100 mm. Visible red light beam across slot width helps in setup, and potentiometer aids adjustment of sensitivity. Light-on/dark-on mode is selectable via rotary switch for application, while integrated thru holes enable quick mounting without brackets.

ifm Optical Fork and Angle Sensors Eliminate Time-Consuming Setup

EXTON, PA - ifm efector inc., a leading manufacturer of sensors and controls, introduces a new line of optical fork and angle sensors with a transmitter and a receiver in one housing. ifm's new sensors offer a one-piece fixed-distance design, eliminating the time-consuming alignment of a separate transmitter and receiver. This positioning provides quick and accurate sensor alignment. Fork housings are available with slot widths ranging from 10mm up to 120mm. Angle widths available in 60mm and 100mm.

The sensor's robust metal housing resists distortion that can occur with conventional plastic fork sensors. A visible red light beam across the slot width assists in setup. The sensitivity is easily adjusted via a potentiometer. Light-on / dark-on mode is selectable via rotary switch for application flexibility. Integrated thru holes enable quick mounting without the need for brackets.

ifm's fork and angle sensors offer a flexible solution for a broad range of packaging and material handling applications. Typical applications include: part detection on conveyors, rails and belts; detection of object edges and protruding features; gear teeth detection and counting; component position verification, orientation
and dimensions; monitoring container fill levels; label detection and hole detection; and tool break monitoring

The Micro DC units are rated IP 67 and are short circuit and overload protected. List price for the fork and angle sensors starts at $125.00 (US).
