IDEAL Expands Industry-Leading Production Machine Lineup with Versatile Coaxial Cable Stripper

Exclusive orbiting blade technology enables faster, more consistent coaxial cable assemblies in high-mix batch production

SYCAMORE, IL, June 4, 2009 - The new Pro Coax Cable Stripper from IDEAL is designed to boost volume, productivity and ROI for OEMs of coaxial cable assemblies at a lower cost with higher accuracy.

Featuring exclusive orbiting blade technology, this semi-automatic, programmable benchtop machine offers the versatility to accommodate coaxial and Triaxial cable, PVC, Teflon®, Hookup wire and other cable types with outer diameters as large as .275 and to produce strip lengths from .001" (.01mm) to 1.500" (38mm). Users will appreciate its menu-guided interface that shortens training time, its high-resolution monochrome display with large easy-to-read characters, along with its built-in memory for storage of 999 batch programs.

Key to the success of the Pro Coax Cable Stripper is its titanium nitride coated HSS cutter blade that delivers best-in-class quality and repeatability. The blade orbits to provide full circumference cuts in an average cycle time of only 7 seconds. As many as five steps can be programmed into the process to allow stripping and removal of the outer conductor and dielectric, incising the outer jacket at a required length, precisely angling the conductor, and more.

Coaxial cable assemblies have traditionally been employed for antenna cabling, cable TV interconnects, and automotive industry applications. However, manufacturers in such diverse areas as medical equipment, instrumentation, military/aerospace, and wireless infrastructure markets now regularly make use of coax, creating more opportunities for cable assemblies OEMs and a need for a more versatile stripping solution like the Pro Coax Cable Stripper.

"Automating the production of coax cable assemblies results in higher quality, but the machines currently available are not versatile enough to handle high-mix batches," explained Peter Crichton, Sales & Application Engineer for IDEAL's Retail/Industrial Division. "Our new Pro Coax Cable Stripper's orbital stripping is perfect for these quick change-over applications as well as high volume production runs, giving OEMs total flexibility in their production methods."

To increase versatility, IDEAL is offering optional 20, 60 and 120 piece interchangeable wire guide sets for the Pro Coax Cable Stripper. Replacement blade sets and safety guards are also available.
