Yageo Releases PF1206 Ultra-Low Resistance Current Sensor Targeting Miniature Portable Device Application

Yageo Corporation, a leading global passive components supplier, announced today the release of its PF1206 ultra-low resistance current sensor designed for mini portable device applications. Featuring a comprehensive resistance range of 1 to 50 milli-ohms and temperature coefficient of 75ppm/°C, Yageo's PF1206, manufactured using in-house metal foil and metal alloy processing technologies to combine PCB substrate and resistance foil, is capable of delivering 5-10% less temperature rise than similar products.

Yageo's PF1206, available in both 0.25 and 0.5 watts, is particularly suitable for use in the power control circuit of Netbook and notebook computer or the hard disk of other compact portable devices that have stringent space as well as current sensing and over-current protection requirements.

Samples of the PF1206 have been sent to major customers with mass production underway.

Mr. Vincent Hu, President of Yageo Global Sales Business Group, said "Propelled by the recent surge in Netbooks market, innovation in Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) products will likely accelerate. Superior precision current sensor, which must be space and power efficient, is paramount to the stability of the CPU of mini portable devices like Netbooks. As Topology research institute survey anticipates laptop computers output including Netbooks to reach US$142 billion, we expect the launch of PF1206 will catapult Yageo's specialty product revenue by over 10%."

The release of PF1206, half the size of existing 2512, will be followed by the introduction of new PF series chip resistors with strengthened power and efficiency in Yageo's continued efforts to provide customers time-to-market technology and product service.

Founded in 1977, Yageo Corporation has become a world-class provider of passive-component services with capabilities on a global scale, including production and sales facilities in Asia, Europe and Americas. The corporation is uniquely positioned to provide one-stop-shopping, offering its complete product portfolio of resistors, capacitors and inductors in both commodity and specialty versions, plus design-in capability, distribution, e-commerce connection and logistics. Yageo currently ranks as the world No.1 in chip-resistors, No. 3 in MLCCs and No. 3 in ferrite products. Yageo Corporation has 20 sales offices, 8 production sites, 6 JIT logistic outfits and 3 R&D centers.
