Designed for shock and vibration measurement, PE accelerometers feature welded construction, have wide bandwidth greater than 15 kHz, and offer outputs from 5.6-20 pC/g with operating temperatures from -73 to +260°C. Model 7500A weighs 10 g and is available in 3 ranges; 7, 13, and 20 pC/g, while 7501A weighs 2.1 g and has titanium case that is available in 5.6 pC/g configuration. Each sensor can withstand ±10,000 G overshock while maintaining 1% non-linearity specification.
Measurement Specialties has released to production two new PE accelerometers for shock and vibration measurement. Models 7500A and 7501A feature welded construction and wide bandwidth to >15kHz. These hermetic devices offer outputs from 5.6pC/g to 20pC/g with operating temperatures from -73°C to +260°C.
Popular through-hole mounting with optional cable, in-line charge convertor and signal conditioner facilitate "plug-and-play" installations. Adhesive and magnetic mounting adapters are available as are triaxial mounting blocks. Standard length of the detachable cable is 120 inches but other lengths are available upon request. Both provide two 0.69 inch safety wire holes to ensure secure attachment.
The stainless steel 7500A weighs 10 grams and is available in three ranges: 7pC/g, 13pC/g and 20pC/g. The lighter weight 7501A is 2.1 grams and features a titanium case that is available in a 5.6pC/g configuration. Each sensor can withstand ±10,000 g's overshock while maintaining a 1% non-linearity specification. Stable temperature performance is possible due to a proprietary bonding technique that does not require the use of epoxy-an adhesive commonly observed to cause sensor drift over temperature.
Both the 7500A and 7501A feature a broad frequency response and are isolated from the mounting surface. The technology utilizes stable piezo-ceramic crystals in annular shear mode. The 7501A titanium device will be the unit of choice for flight test, shock analysis, gearbox monitoring or high temperature applications where being lightweight and protective from corrosive sprays and gases is critical.
The Vibration Design Center in Aliso Viejo, CA spearheads Measurement Specialties' global initiative to expand its accelerometer and vibration sensing business with customers in the automotive, medical, military/aerospace and consumer goods industries. This center builds on the company's platform sensing technologies in silicon MEMS, piezoelectric polymer film, piezoelectric ceramic and bonded gage.
