Comprised of Huck's BOBTAIL lockbolt and lightweight installation tooling, BOBTAILŪ lockbolt fastening system provides optimal vibration resistance and fatigue strength. Utilizing swaging process, unit's collar is pressed onto hardened threads of lockbolt and is forced into grooves of pin-forming permanent, vibration-proof connection. System is available in Grades 2, 5, and 8 and comes in variety of standard and metric sizes.
Fastening System Offers Increased Vibration Resistance and Fatigue Strength
WACO, TX - Alcoa Fastening Systems introduces its Huck-brand BOBTAILŪ lockbolt fastening system. Comprised of Huck's BOBTAIL lockbolt and its lightweight installation tooling, this new fastening system provides the highest vibration resistance and fatigue strength in its class. Utilizing a swaging process, the BOBTAIL's collar is pressed onto the hardened threads of the lockbolt and is forced into the grooves of the pin-forming a permanent, vibration-proof connection. Unlike conventional threaded fasteners, this technique ensures full metal-to-metal contact between the collar and the lockbolt, providing vibration resistance even in the most severe environments. With its shallow thread and large root radius, the BOBTAIL offers 5 to 10 times the fatigue strength of conventional nuts and bolts. Installation of the BOBTAIL lockbolt is made simple with Huck's advanced, tooling which delivers fast, 2-second installations with high, consistent clamp loads. Removal of the lockbolt for repairs is easily achieved using the same installation tooling.
The BOBTAIL fastening system is available in Grades 2, 5, and 8, and comes in a variety of standard and metric sizes.
