Materialise Adds AccuraŽ Xtreme to Stereolithography Material Portfolio, for Tough and Durable Components

Leuven (BELGIUM), 17 June, 2009. Europe's leading rapid prototyping and manufacturing service bureau, Materialise, have announced the launch of the durable AccuraŽ Xtreme Plastic on their stereolithography machines. The outstanding toughness and durability of the material offers Materialise the opportunity to deliver a new type of high-quality form, fit and function prototypes in stereolithography.

AccuraŽ Xtreme Plastic has a very good impact strength (0.45 J/cm) which, combined with an elongation at break of up to 22 percent, makes it ideally suited for a wide range of prototyping and manufacturing applications including tough enclosures, snap fit assemblies, consumer electronic components and alternatives for CNC machined parts.

"With the addition of AccuraŽ Xtreme to our material range we want to show to our customers that we continually strive to offer components with improved durability. What is striking about the material is its high elongation, impact resistance and moderate modulus, resulting in stereolithography components with the look and feel of durable moulded plastics." - Jurgen Laudus, International Sales Manager of Materialise Industrial Services.

About Materialise

Materialise, with headquarters in Belgium, started in 1990 in the sector of rapid prototyping. Since that time, the company has grown exponentially and has become the largest service provider in Europe, with references in the medical, automotive, aerospace and consumer electronics sectors.

Materialise Industrial Services has the world's largest RP&M (rapid prototyping and manufacturing) capacity based in one location. This comprises of 24 stereolithography machines (including 10 patented Mammoth stereolithography machines with a build platform of 2100 x 700 x 800 mm), 20 FDM machines, 8 laser sintering machines, 1 PolyJet machine and 1 3D-printing machine.

Materialise aims at staying the largest provider of plastic prototypes and RP&M solutions, offering the widest range of technologies and largest capacity to support its customers in their product development process.
