PowerLock Box securely links generators to low voltage networks...
SANTA ANA, CA - June 22, 2009 - ITT Interconnect Solutions, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of connectors, interconnects, and cable assemblies, has developed a cost-effective, space-saving PowerLock sequential connecting box for linking generators to low voltage networks. The PowerLock Box utilizes only 2U of rack space in a 19-inch rack, and is offered in two versions: fully sealed with a lid covering the connector ports, and standard, which is sealed only when connectors are mated.
"Our new PowerLock Box offers the same sequential mating facility (ensuring ground is connected first) as our proven NRG Box, in a 50% smaller profile," said Keith Teichmann, director of marketing for ITT Interconnect Solutions. "Unlike other comparable connectors, this system also includes safety features such as a sequential mating system to eliminate the possibility of connecting the wrong line, as well as a secondary locking mechanism to prevent unauthorized disconnection."
The secondary lock also activates a micro-switch that joins a two-pin connector on the back of the unit to a circuit breaker or alarm circuit for additional safety. The PowerLock Box is ideal for mobile generators, welding equipment, theater and outdoor events, theme park rides, alternative energy installations, dockside/riverside power plants, hospitals, factories, shops and offices.
Environmentally sealed to IP65 standards, the PowerLock Box is available in 400A and 660A versions. Voltage rating is to 1000VAC/1500VDC, with an operating temperature range from -30°C to +85°C and life cycles to 500 connections. The device is UL94-VO-approved and features IP2X finger protection, along with 3-phase color coding to meet European, North American and Australian standards.
Typical pricing for the PowerLock Box is approximately $500-600 each depending on version and quantity.
