LXE Announces MX9 Handheld Terminal for Port Market


Feature-rich, Ultra-rugged Handheld Ideal for Harsh Port Environment

BREMEN, Germany - June 17, 2009 - LXE Inc., a division of EMS Technologies, Inc., unveiled today the MX9 rugged handheld computer for the port logistics environment. The announcement was made at the Terminal Operations Conference and Exhibition (TOC) 2009, Stand H2, being held June 16-18, 2009 in Bremen, Germany.

The MX9 handheld computer is designed for use in a variety of port and intermodal applications. It features an outdoor display, 62-key and 38-key back-light keypad options, built-in GPS positional location, 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR communications and rugged packaging. The MX9 computer also comes standard with LXE's Toughtalk(TM) technology, supporting voice-recognition applications.

"Port operators need fast, reliable and rugged intermodal logistics solutions that can withstand the continually changing conditions of the outdoor environment. LXE's newest handheld computer was built with the port customers' needs in mind. LXE has spent a great deal of time working with its port operator customers to ensure that its products meet the customer's needs," says Stephen Newell, general manager of LXE.

Currently, LXE serves more than 200 ports worldwide with a full range of vehicle-mount and handheld computers. The MX9 handheld computer's design for multiple drops to concrete of two meters and water and dust rating of IP 67 make it ideal for port and intermodal logistics. General availability for the MX9 is scheduled for August 15, 2009.
