Taipei, Taiwan, May 15, 2009 - AXIOMTEK today announced the launch of the NA-200A, a cost-effective entry level network appliance powered by a system-on-a-chip IntelŪ EP80579 1.2GHz processor embedded SKU for SOHO market. The IntelŪ EP80579 is the first in a series of breakthrough system on-a-chip (SoC) processors that combined a memory controller hub, an I/O controller hub and a CPU, delivering excellent performance-per-watt for small form factor designs. Sized only 44 x 220 x 151 mm, the NA-200A comes with six high-speed Gigabit LAN ports. Moreover, this compact size network security platform supports one DDR2 SODIMM None-ECC memory, plus an optional DDR2 SOCDIMM ECC memory. AXIOMTEK's NA-200A is ideal for firewalls, VPN, anti-spam and anti-virus applications, as well as intrusion detection and prevention.
By using the IntelŪ EP80579 processor, the NA-200A has reduced power consumption up to 34%, improves computing performance to 55% higher than similar products, and offers comprehensive I/O. Moreover, IT security OEMs can easily migrate existing 32-bit applications to the new IntelŪ EP80579 product line because of its x86 code base compatibility. The network security platform can bring you higher performance, better stability and lower power consumption than previous multi-chip solutions.
"The NA-200A is a cost-effective entry level network appliance in a small form factor, yet capable of delivering high throughput," said Philip Wei, Product Manager of Applied Computing Platforms Business Unit at AXIOMTEK. "The NA-200A uses the new IntelŪ SoC, which combines a memory controller hub, a I/O controller hub and a CPU core based on IntelŪ PentiumŪ M architecture into one, which simplifies and speed up platform design. The use of IntelŪ EP80579 processor brings the benefits of smaller footprint, lowered power consumption, enhanced performance, and comprehensive I/O to the platform."
The hardware system has powerful storage interfaces including one 2.5" SATA2 HDD and a CompactFlash(TM) card. To prevent problems from sudden shutdown, the NA-200A supports LAN bypass function through WDT and GPIO pin definitions. It also features function of BIOS redirection to console port. Other I/O features and expansion slot include two USB, one RJ-45 console port, one Mini PCI, and system reset switch. Moreover, the NA-200A supports mainstream Linux kernel 2.6 and 2.4 operating systems to better support customers who have developed applications on the above listed versions.
