FCI Expands D-Sub Series with Economy Range for PCB Applications

ETTERS, PA (April 14, 2009) - FCI, a leading developer of connectors and interconnect
systems, has expanded its D-Sub Series with the new Economy Range of connectors. The
new series addresses the growing number of applications where fewer mating cycles are
required, such as set-top boxes, control devices and energy meters.

"With this addition, FCI now offers one of the largest D-Sub portfolios available on the market," said George Varghese, global product manager at FCI. "The new Economy Range is designed for less demanding applications, where high mating and unmating cycles are not needed."

The traditional Delta D range is widely recognized as being robust, with high plating
performance and 500 mating cycles. These connectors are specified for telecommunication and medical markets.

The new solder-to-board Economy Range is designed to handle a minimum of 50 mating
and unmating cycles, making it ideal for use in environments such as PCB and indoor
applications with an operating temperature of -20ºC to +105ºC.

The economical D-Sub series is available in standard density from 9 to 37 positions, in
straight and right-angle versions. Right-angle versions are available in two standard
footprints: US footprint of 2.84mm with a connector height of 6.3 mm and European
footprint of 2.54mm with a connector height of 7.2mm.

The new connector range can generate 20% to 30% in savings compared with the
traditional D-Sub product ranges. Design-ins are simplified by 24-hour sample shipment,
online drawings and specifications, and short lead times.

FCI's full line of D-Sub connectors is available on the web, including signal and mixed
power solutions.
