Philips Lighting Introduces a New Standard in Environmentally-Sustainable T8 U-Bent Lighting

March 12, 2009

SOMERSET, NJ - Philips Lighting Company proudly announces the introduction of its highly sustainable new 29 Watt and 31 Watt fluorescent T8 U-Bent lamps. Energy efficient and containing only 3 mg of mercury per lamp, Philips Lighting's offering currently stands as the lowest mercury content T8 U-Bent lamps available in the industry and represent a new standard in environmentally-sustainable T8 U-Bent lighting.

Ideal for 2 X 2 fixtures within a broad range of retail, office, school, and hospital settings and available in 3000K, 3500K, and 4100K color temperatures, Philips' U-Bent lamps feature high lumen maintenance of 95% and a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 85. The lamps are also compact (15/8") and long-lasting, delivering 30,000 hours of rated average life at 12 hours per start and 24,000 hours of rated average life at 3 hours per start on electronic instant start ballasts.

Energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and sustainability have long been guiding principles behind Philips Lighting's product and service innovations. As a champion and leader of the national Lighting Efficiency Coalition, Philips Lighting was instrumental in helping to finalize the lighting efficiency aspect of the federal Energy Independence & Security Act of 2007, efforts for which Philips Lighting subsequently received the Alliance to Save Energy's "Stars of Energy Efficiency Chairman's Award" in September 2008. In addition, Philips is achieving revolutionary strides in lighting design and application globally through green lighting breakthroughs being introduced in the LED arena by Philips solid state lighting divisions Philips Color Kinetics, Lumileds, and others. Philips Lighting's new T8 U-Bent lamps represent yet another revolutionary new lighting solution that will assist the marketplace in optimizing lighting quality while helping to drive a more energy-efficient future for generations to come.

High-performing, energy-efficient, long-lasting, and now sporting the industry's lowest mercury content in their class, Philips Lighting's new 29 Watt and 31 Watt fluorescent T8 U-Bent lamps deliver a new level of environmental sustainability to the market's broad array of professional lighting applications.
