Quest Technologies Introduces the Verifier STI-PA Speech Intelligibility Meter

For Evaluation of Fire Alarm and Mass Communication Systems

Oconomowoc, WI - March 17, 2009 - Quest Technologies, a 3M company, is pleased to introduce the Verifier, a special type of sound level meter which offers simplified methodology for measurement of speech intelligibility STI-PA (Speech Transmission Index-Public Address), to ensure voice actuated fire alarms, mass communications and PA systems are clearly heard and understood in an emergency. The Verifier measures speech intelligibility in accordance with IEC 60268-16, NFPA 72 Annex E and meets the requirements for the DOD United Facilities Criteria UFC-4-021-01, U.S.A Department of Defense facilities.

Speech Intelligibility Studies with Minimal Training

The Verifier's intuitive display and keypad allows users with varying levels of expertise to perform speech intelligibility studies. The sleek, compact design makes hand-held measurement convenient. A run-time clock details and stores the duration of sessions while the start, pause and stop controls make operation easy. The large LCD screen allows for data evaluation of SPL, Average Value and STI-PA/CIS.

Quick, Accurate and Easy STI-PA Measurement

The Verifier performs a quick 15 second STI-PA measurement using a calibrated test signal transmitted over a fire alarm or mass communications system. The meter then calculates the Speech Transmission Index - PA (STI) or Common Intelligibility Scale (CIS) value and provides instantaneous results of Bad, Poor, Fair, Good or Excellent along with the corresponding numerical value. In addition to quick and accurate measurements, the Verifier offers the ability to sample ambient noise during peak business hours and store up to four captures curves. This feature separates the sampling and testing periods, which reduces disruption and makes the post-processing of recorded data easy.

For additional information on the Verifier, please contact our Sales Department at 800-245-0779 or email sales@questtechnologies.com.
