New Ceramabond 672 Encapsulates Specialty Heater

Valley Cottage, NY - January 30, 2009

SUMMARY

Ceramabond(TM) 672, a new high temperature magnesium oxide based ceramic adhesive manufactured by Aremco Products, Inc., is now used to encapsulate specialty heaters used in applications to 2800°F.

FEATURES

Ceramabond(TM) 672 is a water-based, two-part, fast-set, magnesium oxide filled ceramic adhesive and coating system used in the assembly of high temperature catalytic converters for applications to 2800°F.

Ceramabond(TM) 672 is ideal for assembling and insulating ceramic and metal components used in high temperature devices. It demonstrates exceptional electrical properties including a volume resistivity of 109 ohm-cm and dielectric strength of 255 volts per mil. Mechanical properties include tensile shear strength of 500 psi and torque strength of 21.6 ft-lbs.

Ceramabondtm 672 is a two-part, easy to mix, powder and liquid system. Mixed in a ratio of 100 parts powder to 35-50 parts liquid by weight, the adhesive sets at room temperature and is cured rapidly at 200 oF in 1-2 hours. It is easily dispensed and uncured material cleans up quickly with warm water.

Ceramabond(TM) 672 is a completely inorganic system containing no volatile organic compounds. It will not outgas in ultra high vacuum (UHV), a major advantage and requirement for semiconductor and aerospace applications.

APPLICATIONS

Additional applications for Ceramabondtm 672 include the fabrication of heaters, igniters and high power resistors, as well as high temperature sensors and instruments such as gas chromatographs, mass spectrometers, and oxygen analyzers and temperature probes.
