Storage Systems offer flexible drive configurations.


February 10, 2009 - With intelligent cache management and quad-core processors, ETERNUS8000 and ETERNUS4000 systems allow enterprise and mid-sized customers to mix 8 Gb Fibre Channel or iSCSI host channels in same machine to maximize server connectivity. They offer LUN-level, disk-data encryption combined with WAN optimization for data security and integrity. Other features included are ETERNUS SF storage management software, and MAID technology to reduce power consumption.

New Fujitsu ETERNUS8000 and ETERNUS4000 Storage Systems Deliver Increased Bandwidth and Performance with Flexible Drive Configurations


SUNNYVALE, CA - 01/12/09 - Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation today announced the availability of the new Fujitsu ETERNUS®8000 and ETERNUS4000 storage systems, delivering up to twice the performance of previous models. The new systems offer flexible drive configurations that allow both mid-sized and enterprise customers to control performance and cost.

News Highlights

o The new ETERNUS 8000 and ETERNUS 4000 storage systems deliver up to twice the performance of previous models with intelligent cache management and quad-core processors. The new systems also give enterprise and mid-sized customers the choice to mix 8Gb Fibre Channel or iSCSI host channels in the same machine to maximize server connectivity.
o Key features include:
o ETERNUS8000 and ETERNUS4000 offer advanced data security and integrity features, including LUN-level, disk-data encryption combined with WAN optimization for maximum protection of sensitive information.
o Both systems offer MAID (massive array of idle disks) technology, enabling customers to reduce power consumption. Future models will also include solid state disks to enhance performance in a demanding application infrastructure, as well as thin provisioning to increase power efficiency through reduced disk drive utilization.
o The systems also come with ETERNUS SF, Fujitsu storage management software that dramatically simplifies management and maintenance, and supports initiatives related to business continuity, data integrity, and disaster recovery.
o SYNNEX Corporation, a leading business process services company and Fujitsu partner, has just expanded its reseller relationship beyond Fujitsu Lifebook® notebooks and tablets to offer storage products, such as the new ETERNUS systems.
o Availability and Pricing: ETERNUS8000 and ETERNUS4000 are available immediately. ETERNUS4000 starts at $39,000 when configured for uncompromised availability with dual controllers, dual power, and four Fibre Channel server connections with 5 x 146GB 15Krpm drives plus ETERNUS Storage Manager.
