Jan 16, 2009 12:00 PM

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC -- Porticos, Inc. applauds the launch of the P100 Personal Gas Monitor by Sensit Technologies. The Sensit P100 monitors are capable of measuring and warning of hazardous levels of CO, H2S and 02. The instrument issues audible, visual and vibratory warnings. Other alarms are included, as well as alarm-event data logging.

Sensit Technolgies commissioned Porticos, Inc. to provide mechanical engineering, product-development, and industrial design for the P100. According to Kevin Carpenter, Chief Engineer at Porticos, "These devices are used in the harshest work environments on Earth: mines, oil-rigs, chemical plants. We started with the premise that it must be nearly indestructible, but small enough to wear on a lapel." The resulting product boasts an IP65 rating, is exceptionally shock-resistant. The device has received US, Canadian and European approvals for use in hazardous environments.

The Sensit Technologies product-line consists of more than 20 gas sensors, optimized for a broad range of users and environments. Scott Kleppe, president of Sensit Technologies said that the P100 "is the perfect addition to our gas-sensor family. It's our first wearable product; the smallest and, by far, the most robust. Porticos engineers really did turn our ideas into a great product."
