Newly Certified Radar Altimeter Provides Vital Information During Critical Flight Operations

Competitive Pricing Makes It Available to All Pilots

WACO, Texas, Oct. 2 - FreeFlight Systems, an international supplier of professional-grade avionics systems for commercial and military aircraft, today announces the availability of the newly certified RA 4000 Radar Altimeter. The FAA awarded FreeFlight Systems a technical standard order (TSO-C87) authorization for its RA 4000 radar altimeter on August 28, 2008. Consisting of a remote unit and dual antennas for increased accuracy, the RA 4000 provides precise altitude above-ground-level (AGL) information from 0 to 2000 feet. This real-time system is designed to enhance operational safety during approaches, night time operations, and hazardous flight above irregular terrain. The lightweight RA 4000 is flexible in its aircraft placement and easy to install.

"As the new owners of FreeFlight Systems, we are committed to introducing systems that are easy to use and highly reliable for the pilot," stated Tim Taylor, president and chief executive officer, FreeFlight Systems. "Our newly TSO'd RA 4000 radar altimeter fits this profile. It is easy for pilots to set, provides height above terrain (HAT) right down to 0 feet with a high degree of accuracy, and adds a safety dimension to flying in low visibility conditions." Added Robert Schneier, chief operating officer, FreeFlight Systems, "Joining our 3000 series of radar altimeters, the RA 4000 is offered to our customers at a competitive price so pilots flying aircraft of any size can take advantage of this important safety tool."

Including dual antennas, the RA 4000 system list price starts at $8,665, making cost no longer an obstacle to including this safety device in the cockpit. Eclipse 500 VLJ ready, the RA 4000 also offers improved situational awareness for a broad range of aircraft types. Once purchased, its reliability is covered by a two-year warranty. The RA 4000 is the first of a series of new radar altimeters that FreeFlight Systems will be introducing over the next 12 months.
