Photoelectric Sensor detects overlapping flat objects.

October 9, 2008 - Capable of detecting 0.2 mm thick sheets at rates up to 600,000 pieces/hr, SCATEC-2 Long Range Photoelectric Sensor is designed for non-contact counting of overlapped paper sheets, newspapers, and flat objects conveyed in lap or shingle stream, regardless of direction of travel. Measuring range is 0-120 mm with object speed of 0-2 m/s for edges greater than 0.3 mm and 0-1 m/s for edges greater then 0.2 mm. Available with M12 connector, sensor can also be adjusted using DIP switch.

Long Range SCATEC 2 Sensor Detects Overlapping Flat Objects

LONG-RANGE SCATEC-2 LASER COPY COUNTER ALLOWS INCREASED MOUNTING FLEXIBILITY

Detects 0.2 mm Thick Sheets at Rates up to 600,000 Pieces per Hour

Southington, Conn. - September 29, 2008 - Baumer Ltd. has expanded the SCATEC sensor family to include the SCATEC-2 Long Range Photoelectric Sensor. SCATEC sensors are specifically designed for non-contact counting of overlapped paper sheets, newspapers and other flat objects conveyed in a lap or shingle stream, regardless of the direction of travel. The SCATEC-2 Long Range Photoelectric Sensor offers a longer sensing range for increased mounting flexibility.

Using laser optics and a unique internal algorithm, the SCATEC-2 counter detects sheets down to 0.2 mm thick at a rate up to 600,000 pieces per hour regardless of color or finish. The sensor's measuring range is 0 to 120 mm with an object speed of 0 to 2 m/s for edges greater than 0.3 mm and 0 to 1 m/s for edges greater then 0.2 mm. Available with an industry standard M12 connector, the sensor is adjustable using a simple DIP switch or via the new ScaDiag SCATEC Diagnostic Software.

The SCATEC-2 is easy to mount parallel to the conveyor stream and can detect with either the folded or cut edge leading. All SCATEC-2 sensors are insensitive to the changing color or reflectivity of printed materials. A visible red laser beam allows for easy alignment.
