Toyota Introduces Large 22,000-35,000 LB. Capacity IC Pneumatic Lift Trucks for Extreme Work Environments

Enhanced Product Line Offers Comprehensive Range of Equipment

IRVINE, Calif. - (Sept. 16, 2008) - Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc., the number one lift truck supplier in the United States, today unveiled its new line of large IC pneumatic lift trucks designed for demanding applications, including construction, lumber yards, metal fabricators, agriculture, and concrete and masonry yards. Toyota offers six models to choose from in 22,000- to 35,000-pound capacities at a 24" load center.

The product line is equipped with a powerful 6.7-liter J-Series Hino diesel engine. Hino, a Toyota Group Company, provides leading engine performance in terms of small size, light weight, high output, low fuel consumption, low emissions and low vibration engines. The new IC lift truck line also features a two-speed transmission with a two-stator torque converter, synchronized steering, wet disc brakes and a number of ergonomic and safety features to enhance operation and performance.

"With the introduction of Toyota's large IC pneumatic lift trucks, our customers have access to an enhanced product portfolio to help select the right product for the job", said Shankar Basu, president and CEO of Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A. "Toyota is proud to offer a comprehensive product line of lift trucks ranging from 3,000- to 35,000-pound capacities with the ruggedness and standard of quality our customers expect from us."

Powerful Hino Engine and Exclusive Two-Speed Transmission

The large IC pneumatic lift trucks feature a Hino diesel engine with a common rail direct fuel injection system that requires no heating up and produces lower engine noise and lower emissions than other models. The diesel engine meets the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Tier 3 compliance regulations.

Hino-brand engines are renowned for providing leading engine performance, while offering low fuel consumption and low vibration. For more than three decades, Hino engines have been tried and tested in the company's own brand of medium and heavy duty trucks.

Durability to Increase Life Cycle

Toyota's exclusive two-speed transmission provides optimal performance comparable to industry standard three-speed transmissions, with the added benefit of a smoother operation due to fewer shift changes.

This two-speed, two-stator transmission requires less maintenance than a comparable three-speed transmission. In addition, it is designed to handle more torque and contains fewer parts to service.

Toyota's large IC pneumatic lift trucks offer fully oiled lift cylinders, which are extremely durable in harsh environments and help prevent the cylinders from rusting.

Wet disc brakes are standard and operate under the most severe work conditions. Toyota's wet disc brakes also help ensure minimum downtime and maximize operating performance by reducing maintenance costs and improving vehicle safety.

Ergonomic Offerings for Operators

Toyota's large IC pneumatic lift trucks include a number of ergonomic features designed with the safety and comfort of the operator in mind. Toyota's exclusive synchronized steering option enhances operator comfort by automatically correcting misalignment between the angle of the steering wheel and turn angle of the steer tires. This system maintains a consistent steering wheel position for improved hand placement during operation.

For extreme environments a Deluxe Steel Cab option is available. The deluxe cab features a special mounting system that absorbs and reduces noise and vibrations in the operating compartment. The front and rear windows feature a pillar less design allowing a wider, unobstructed field of vision. Additionally, for uncomfortably warm conditions an air conditioning option is available.

For operator ease, the electronic parking brake offers the functionality to be engaged or disengaged by the push of a button. For an added layer of safety, an alarm will sound if the operator attempts to operate the lift truck with the parking brake engaged. And, an integrated monitoring center continually checks the lift truck and notifies the operator if there are any issues with the unit's systems.

In rugged environments, Toyota's mechanical hydraulic pilot-type levers also work well to reduce the vibrations experienced by operators.
