Matthews Announces Enhanced C84E Continuous Ink-Jet Marking System
Pittsburgh, PA, September 2, 2008 - Matthews Marking Products announces the availability of its newly enhanced I-Mark(TM) C84e Continuous Ink-Jet (CIJ) marking system for small character marking. New features have been added for greater versatility, reliability and print quality. The new C84e will be demonstrated at the IMTS08 show in Matthews booth #B-6520 (North Hall), September 8-13 and at Pack Expo International 2008 in booth #S-2647 (South Hall), November 9-13.
Basic applications, functions - easy to use, low maintenance
The C84e continuous ink-jet system prints up to 4 lines of text from .05 in -.61 in. (1.25 mm-15.6 mm) high at a maximum production line speed of 1,050 ft. per minute. It may be used to print expiration dates, batch codes, logos and bar codes on porous or non-porous materials. A large (10.4 in.), easy-to-read and use, color, icon-based touchscreen and single button controls for jet startup/shutdown make the C84e easy to operate and to create and edit messages. This printer features a self-cleaning printhead, reducing operator maintenance.
New reliability features
A new solvent pump and improved start-up/shut-down programs enable the C84e to start and shut down efficiently without the need for manual cleaning or maintenance. These enhancements deliver improved viscosity control and lower maintenance costs. A new flush routine removes ink and automatically flushes solvent to the printhead nozzle, resulting in peak print performance.
If a low ink or solvent warning is ignored for more than eight hours, the printer automatically shuts down, preventing printer damage. At the next start up, a prompt notifies operators that the ink-jet will not start until ink is added.
Added functions and improved print quality
New clocks, date codes, expiration date codes and counters have been added to allow users to design and save their own unique codes, improving the versatility of the system. Vertical text positioning has been added to allow fine adjustment of vertical and horizontal spacing between lines to produce easier to read text. With a new restore function, messages can be copied from one C84e to another without changing printhead codes or ink script. Other new features include new bar codes options, remote message sending/selection of bar codes, and the user's choice of printing or not printing leading zeroes.
For continuous manufacturing process applications requiring precise placement of small character marks, the C84e has improved print registration. Further raster development has resulted in exceptional print quality.
