Communication Software includes drivers for Linux v2.2.16.

September 10, 2008 - Enabling use of IPv6 addressing across all operating systems, TruePort v6.2 can pass serial control signaling information across TCP for secure transmission of information on SSH/SSL sessions. COM port re-director utility allows communication to take place across IP network infrastructure. All COM port directed data sent by application is re-directed by TruePort across IP/Ethernet network to remote Perle Terminal Servers or I/O Device Servers that are connected to customers' target devices.

Perle Systems Releases TruePort Version 6.2

NASHVILLE, TN - September 1, 2008, Perle Systems, the global developer and manufacturer of serial to Ethernet connectivity solutions announced today the release of TruePort Version 6.2. IOLAN users can download the new driver directly from the Perle website.

"This version of the TruePort COM port re-director includes the latest drivers for Linux 2.2.16 and allows the use of IPv6 addressing across all operating systems", says Julie McDaniel, VP Marketing at Perle Systems. "TruePort version 6.2 also has enhanced the ability to pass serial control signaling information across TCP for secure transmission of information on SSH and SSL sessions."

Perle's TruePort is a COM port re-director utility that makes applications think they are talking to a directly connected COM port when, in fact, the communication is happening across an IP network infrastructure. All COM port directed data sent by the application is re-directed by TruePort across the IP/Ethernet network to remote Perle Terminal Servers or I/O Device Servers which are connected to the customers' target devices. Data and serial port signaling is transparently communicated between the application and remote device.

While other Terminal Server vendors provide a COM port re-director that is limited to the Windows operating systems, Perle's TruePort provides a comprehensive driver set supporting a wide range of operating systems including the latest version of Linux 2.2.16, Vista, Windows 2003, 2000, NT and XP, AIX, HP UX, NCR UNIX, SUN Solaris and Sparc, Intel, SCO UnixWare and SCO OpenServer.
