ClearSpeed Releases New Advance(TM) e710 Accelerator Board and CSX700(TM) Processor

High performance and reliability, smaller form-factor, and lower power consumption combine to provide unparalleled performance at half the price.

International Supercomputing Conference (ISC'08) - Dresden, Germany - June 17, 2008 -
ClearSpeed Technology, the world leader in high performance, high-reliability parallel
processing solutions, today announced the launch of its new Advance e710 accelerator board and CSX700 processor. Thanks to enhanced features and aggressive new price-points, the Advance e710 accelerator board achieves more than twice the price/performance of its predecessor while consuming approximately 30 percent less power.

The Advance e710 accelerator board is ideal for customers with technical computing applications, such as computational electromagnetics (CEM), financial analytics, and life sciences. These computationally dense applications demand the utmost in both speed and reliability, and benefit from the e710's robust system level RAS features.

"The Advance e710 is the only floating point accelerator designed and optimized for reliable highperformance computing," said Ray McConnell, ClearSpeed's chief technical officer. "We've designed our accelerator product line to address the unique challenges faced by users of numerically intensive computing-where the relentless demand for high-reliability compute cycles is in direct contention with the constraints of facilities space and the limits of power and cooling."

The e710 delivers 96 GFLOPS of double precision performance, while its compact form factor occupies less than one-eighth the space and consumes one-tenth the power of the latest GPU-based alternatives. The e710's high performance, small form-factor and low power consumption combine to provide unparalleled performance per watt, performance per square meter, and performance per dollar.

A single Advance e710 board accelerates a dual socket, quad-core server by over 50 percent for the LINPACK benchmark and up to 100 percent for Black Scholes-related workloads. Additional Advance e710 accelerators can be combined for scalable performance increases-easily integrating into rack servers or workstations via the e710's PCIe interface. Early Advance e710 boards are in use with ClearSpeed customers now.

ClearSpeed is also releasing version 3.10 of its software suite, which includes an advanced application programming interface (API) called CSPX (pronounced 'See Specs'), and developer tools designed to ease host-card communication programming using object migration, which transparently addresses multi-card configurations. This API provides a unique integrated visualization of a heterogeneous system data movement, using source-level debugging and profiling of both the host system and the accelerator.
