Infrared Camera detects CO leakage.

September 8, 2008 - ThermaCAM® GasFindIR CO(TM) detects carbon monoxide utilizing cooled InSb detector and optical systems that are tuned to very narrow spectral infrared images for detection of very small leaks. Three integration modes, Normal Scene, Cold Scene, and Hot Scene can be user-selected at 60 Hz. Camera can be battery operated for 8 hr of continuous use, connected to ac power for round-the-clock use, or connected to 12 V power for vehicle-based inspections.

FLIR Systems' New GasFindIR Detects Carbon Monoxide to Help Industry Maintain Infrastructure, Protect the Environment and Ensure Safety

Leak Detection of Carbon Monoxide is Critical for a Variety of Bulk Chemical Manufacturing and High-grade Steelmaking

BOSTON, Massachusetts (June 17, 2008) - FLIR Systems, Inc., the global leader in infrared cameras, announced today the addition of the ThermaCAM® GasFindIR CO(TM) to its line of infrared cameras. The new GasFindIR detects Carbon Monoxide that is created during a variety of industrial processes. Carbon Monoxide (chemical formula CO) is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas. It is a principle component of syngas that is often used for industrial power; it is used in industrial scale operations to purify Nickel and much more. Carbon Monoxide is emitted as part of the Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) process that is part of the high-grade steelmaking process.

"FLIR's GasFindIR camera is ready to address the issue of CO leak detection as it addressed leak detection for Volatile Organic Compounds for the petrochemical, oil and gas industries in terms of predictive maintenance, improving efficiencies and safety," said Paul Czerepuszko, Director, Business Development, FLIR Systems. "While other types of sensors can detect the presence of CO, only GasFindIR can scan wide areas from a distance to quickly identify the emission at its source allowing for improved worker safety and greater efficiencies."

The GasFindIR CO is optimized to work in an environment and climate scene in which gases are present. These three user-selectable integration modes, Normal Scene, Cold Scene, and Hot Scene can be selected at 60 Hz. GasFindIR CO has an advanced cooled InSb detector and optical systems that are tuned to very narrow spectral infrared images for detection of very small leaks that can easily go unidentified with other detection devices.

In support of a variety of maintenance procedures, GasFindIR CO can be operated by battery lasting for 8-hours of continuous use, can be connected to AC power for round-the-clock use and be connected to 12-volt power for vehicle-based inspections. Images from the camera are recordable to any off-the-shelf video recorder for easy archiving, documenting and emailing. A variety of lenses are available for wide-angle scanning of piping systems and views of pipelines from moving vehicles.
