Electrodes are suited for welding and cladding.

September 4, 2008 - Offered in .045, 1/16, and 3/32 in. dia, self-shielded electrodes are designed for welding stainless steels and cladding of carbon steels. SelectAlloy 308LTO-3 (E308LTO-3) contains nominal weld metal composition of 21% chromium and 10% nickel with maximum carbon content of .03%, while SelectAlloy 309LTO-3 (E309LTO-3) has nominal weld metal composition of 24% chromium and 13% nickel with maximum carbon content of .03%. Compositions make weld metal resistant to intergranular corrosion.

New Self-Shielded, Stainless Steel Electrodes for Welding and Cladding

Date: August 27, 2008

Fort Loramie, OH - Select-Arc, Inc. has introduced two self-shielded, flux cored, stainless steel electrodes that are designed to weld stainless steels and for the cladding of carbon steels. The lower penetration of these wires makes them well suited for surfacing and for welding over gaps.

SelectAlloy 308LTO-3 (E308LTO-3) contains a nominal weld metal composition of 21% chromium and 10% nickel with a maximum carbon content of .03%. The electrode's low carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation and makes the weld metal more resistant to intergranular corrosion. It may be used to weld Types 301, 302, 304L, 308 and 308L stainless steel in addition to carbon steel cladding.

SelectAlloy 309LTO-3 (E309LTO-3) has a nominal weld metal composition of 24% chromium and 13% nickel as well as a maximum carbon content of .03%, which makes the weld metal more resistant to intergranular corrosion. It is utilized for cladding as well as to weld Type 309 stainless steel and to join carbon and low alloy steels to austenitic stainless steels.

SelectAlloy 308LTO-3 and 309LTO-3 are available in .045", 1/16" and 3/32" diameters
