Phidgets Inc. Adds a Differential Gas Pressure Sensor to Its List of Analog Sensors

The sensor measures both negative and positive pressure from -3.6psi to +3.6psi

CALGARY, Alberta, August 11, 2008 - Phidgets Inc. released today the 1126 Differential Gas Pressure Sensor. The sensor measures the pressure difference between two pressure intakes; it can measure both negative and positive pressures in the range of -3.6psi (-25kPa) to +3.6psi (+25kPa) with a maximum error rate of 5%.

"Users will typically plug the Differential Pressure Sensor into an Analog Input, and measure pressure differentials between two systems. We expect that many customers will leave one port open, to measure the relative pressure difference between their system and atmospheric pressure. " says Chester Fitchett, CEO of Phidgets.

Product Specifications

o Device Maximum Current Consumption: 10mA

o Output Impedance: 1K ohms

o Minimum / Maximum Voltage: 3.3VDC to 5.0VDC

o Error / Accuracy: 5% Max

o Minimum Pressure: -3.6psi / -25kPa

o Maximum Pressure: 3.6psi / 25kPa

o Absolute Pressure (case): 200kPa

o Warm up time: 20ms

o Response time: 1ms (sensor)

o Port Diameter: 2.79 to 3.30mm (nominal 3mm)

Software Environment

"Unlike a lot of our competitor's products that require their users to write some firmware code in order to use their sensor, we are completely "Plug and Play" says Bernard Rousseau, Director of Marketing. "With Phidgets, you plug it in and start using it and when it comes to programming, the user, not us, decides which operating system and which computer language he wants to use", added Rousseau.

Users can program Phidgets using a simple yet powerful and well documented Application Programming Interfade (API) that is supported under Windows (2000, XP, Vista), Windows CE, Mac OS X, and Linux. Users can write programs in Visual Basic, VB.NET, C#, C/C++, Flash/Flex, Java, Labview, Matlab, ActionScript 3.0, and Cocoa.

Phidgets also provides programming examples for all its products to help programmers write their own programs. The API Libraries as well as the examples and the documentation are available at no charge on www.Phidgets.com.

Pricing and Availability

The 1126 Differential Gas Pressure Sensor is available now. The suggested resale price is $40.00 Canadian.
