SGS Netherlands Announces New Service to Mitigate Explosion Hazards

Explosion hazards are a recognized issue throughout the world but controlling and mitigating these risks remains complex and an ongoing area of concern. Expert knowledge and experience is required to identify, evaluate and reduce such risks to a tolerable level.

To cater the demanding needs of the industry, SGS introduced its new service: Explosion Protection offering consultation, inspection and trainings for explosion safety.

The European sector is governed by the two directives ATEX 137 and ATEX 95 referring the safety of workers and the assessment of equipment design.

SGS Industrial Services can not only assist you in achieving compliance with these requirements in order to protect against explosion hazards but also to avoid the regulatory penalties for non-compliance.

Even though inspections to identify explosion related issues are obligatory, their value is often underestimated and they are usually only limited to electrical hardware only. Inspections performed by SGS give you greater insight regarding the conditions of the zone integrity (release sources, ventilation conditions, housekeeping, markings, etc.) and technical integrity of the special design of your installations.

SGS explosion safety experts also developed a number of training programmes including courses for personnel working in hazardous areas, designers and inspectors of hazardous areas.

Explosion Protection Services help you to identify hazardous sources, to design and implement measures to prevent ignition and mitigate the effects of explosions on personnel, assets and business continuity.
