Sunrise Telecom'sŪ SunLite GigE(TM), the World's First Palm-Size GigE Test Set, Speeds Ethernet Business Services
The SunLite GigE gives service providers a competitive advantage by speeding reliable Ethernet service deployment, IP connectivity testing, and problem resolution.
SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 6 - Sunrise TelecomŪ Incorporated, a leader in test and measurement solutions for telecom, cable and wireless networks, today announced the SunLite GigE, the world's first palm-size GigE tester. This unique tool helps telecom and broadband service providers meet the stringent demands of using Ethernet to deliver robust and differentiated services to their business and municipal customers. The light-weight SunLite GigE is the only test set technicians require for fast Ethernet network and service installation, verification, maintenance and troubleshooting.
"Until now, the combination of high performance and high functionality were only found in bulky hard to use Ethernet testers. The SunLite GigE has transformed the landscape and is capturing the imagination of our customers through its unique combination of high performance, rich functionality and simplicity of use in the world's only palm size tester," said Bahaa Moukadam, Sunrise Telecom's Vice President of Marketing. "Telcos' and Cable Operators' urgent need for a quantum leap in productivity improvement and CapEx reduction has been addressed with this breakthrough product."
The full-featured SunLite GigE provides multi-stream, multi-service testing capability for installation and maintenance of differentiated Ethernet and triple-play services, and all of the needed functionality for quick and easy service provisioning. A complete set of tests improves productivity and lowers operating expenses by eliminating the need for multiple test sets. Network and service quality can be tested across a variety of simultaneously stressed parameters, ensuring reliable performance.
"Sunrise Telecom has built the tiny SunLite GigE, a palm-sized tester that provides more Ethernet functionality and flexibility in one test set than other hand-held devices we've seen," said Michael Howard, principal analyst and co-founder of Infonetics Research. "The GigE tester should help field technicians quickly deploy any of a range of differentiated Ethernet services."
The SunLite GigE's traffic generation and measurements meet the needs of the most demanding testing scenarios. Using the SunLite GigE, field technicians can verify end-to-end transport of Gigabit Ethernet/IP traffic, transmit and analyze eight independent streams and run test methodology based on RFC2544. Technicians can use the SunLite GigE to determine throughput, link utilization, latency, and IP connectivity. Highly accurate results enable technicians to quickly make pass/fail, go/no-go decisions. In addition, the SunLite GigE's 10/100/1000BASE-T and 1000BASE-X interfaces enable copper and fiber GigE testing in the same tester.
The SunLite GigE is a compact and lightweight test set that boots-up rapidly and runs cool without a fan, delivering the long battery life required for complete installation and maintenance of Metro Ethernet, IP services and network elements including switches and routers. The test set's intuitive graphical user interface, high resolution color screen, and simple test profile creation and sharing, allow technicians with limited Ethernet or IP testing experience to verify performance parameters for Gigabit Ethernet services quickly.
The SunLite GigE is immediately available from Sunrise Telecom. For sales information contact the company at info@sunrisetelecom.com.
