Power-Monitoring IC provides ±1% accuracy.

August 5, 2008 - Suited for microprocessor and MCU power-monitoring applications, MAX6394 integrates highly precise bandgap reference which allows for trimming reset thresholds to as much as ±0.6% accuracy at room temperature. Unit has 9 fixed voltage thresholds, each with 0.7, 14, 105, and 826 msec preset timeout periods. Operating between -40 to +125°C automotive temperature range, it provides open-drain output that can be pulled up to 6 V, even when VCC is less than pull-up voltage.

±1% Accurate µP Supervisor Provides Highly Reliable Power Monitoring

High-Accuracy, Low-Power µP Supervisor

o The MAX6394 is a ±1% accurate microprocessor supervisor.

o This device provides highly reliable, precision power monitoring for demanding applications.

o To provide excellent reliability, the MAX6394 integrates a highly precise bandgap reference that allows Maxim to trim voltage thresholds for ±1% accuracy.

o The MAX6394 is ideal for critical µP and µC power-monitoring applications, portable equipment, or any other applications that require precision monitoring.

SUNNYVALE, CA-May 22, 2008-Maxim Integrated Products (PINK OTC MARKETS: MXIM) introduces the MAX6394 low-power, ±1% accurate µP supervisor. This device provides superb reliability by integrating a highly precise bandgap reference that allows Maxim to trim reset thresholds to as much as ±0.6% accuracy at room temperature. This higher supervisor accuracy results in a smaller, tighter reset guard band that is closer to the desired RESET threshold. Maxim's highest accuracy µP supervisor, the MAX6394, is ideal for critical microprocessor and microcontroller power-monitoring applications, portable equipment, and any other applications that require precision monitoring.

Designed to meet the needs of almost any application, the MAX6394 is factory programmed to any of 36 different options. Nine fixed voltage thresholds are available, each with four preset timeout periods (0.7, 14, 105, and 826ms). These options allow designers to tailor the MAX6394 to specific applications without additional external components or design time. This device also provides an open-drain output that can be pulled up to 6V, even when VCC is less than the pullup voltage. This allows designers to use a separate pullup voltage to ensure that the correct logic levels are reached. The ability to pull the reset voltage above VCC eliminates the need for additional level translators, further reducing component cost.

Fully specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range, the MAX6394 is available in a small, 4-pin SOT143 package. Prices start at $1.57 (1000-up, FOB USA).
