Supertex Introduces High Speed, High Voltage, Class-D Audio Amplifier Driver

MD7120 Features Up To 200V Bridge Supply Voltage and Over 90% Efficiency

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 24, 2008- Supertex (NasdaqGS: SUPX), a recognized leader in high voltage analog and mixed signal integrated circuits (ICs), today introduced the MD7120, a high voltage, high speed, N-channel, full-bridge power MOSFET driver for use in Class-D audio amplifiers. The MD7120 provides a broad range of output voltage from 12V to 200V, has ±5 nanosecond dead time matching and rise or fall times of less than 30 nanoseconds with a typical 1nF load. The N-channel MOSFETs are driven from normal logic level inputs by directly coupled internal level translators.

The MD7120 can be connected directly to a 200V supply voltage and can drive over 100W output with 90% efficiency. Its internal core consists of control logic, level translators, a bootstrap-powered high side gate driver and over-temperature, under-voltage and current protection circuits. The thresholds of the current protection for both the high and low sides are resistor-programmable.

"The MD7120 has been optimized for parameters critical to Class-D audio performance such as high efficiency and low EMI," states Ahmed Masood, Vice President of Marketing for Supertex. "Additionally, this MOSFET driver provides up to a 3.0A peak driving current with matched output resistance and channel-to-channel propagation delay for lower total harmonic distortion and noise."

The MD7120 is available in a 32-lead QFN package (MD7120K6-G). The part is Green and RoHS compliant. Samples are available from stock. Lead-time for production quantities is 4-6 weeks ARO. Pricing is US $5.20 each for the MD7120K6-G in 1K quantities.
