Transponder ensures process control under extreme conditions.

June 23, 2008 - With reading range of up to 4 m, HARfid LT 86 (HT) UHF RFID transponder is used to identify objects under extreme temperatures in transport logistics and production management. It supplies data necessary to ensure control during production and for end-to-end process verification. Mechanical and chemical resistant units are suited for foodstuff industry, paint drying facilities, or medical systems in which vessels and instruments are disinfected and sterilized.

Process Control under Extreme Conditions

April 2008, No. 261

RFID transponders perfect automated processes, even at extreme temperatures

The HARTING UHF RFID transponder family can now boast of a new generation - the LT 86 (HT), providing quality and benefits in a single dimension. How is the right color of paint applied to the body in the paint shop? How can the correct production sequence be documented clearly and explicitly? When was what part produced and to where (whom) was it delivered? Objects can now be identified even under extreme temperatures in transport logistics and production management, thanks to an innovative RFID transponder. The transponder supplies the data necessary to ensure perfect control during production and for complete end-to-end process verification.

These types of RFID applications (Radio Frequency Identification) must also function fully and properly in metallic environments at high temperatures, such as in paint drying facilities, with information about the manufacturer, design, production date, serial number and owner of the "object" having to be available at all times, along with the option of saving new, current data. Standard, foil-based RFID transponders (smart labels) are not suited for these types of application.

Employing the 3D-MID process, HARTING AG Mitronics can now produce RFID tags that can be used even in harsh industrial environments. HARTING Technology Group is now presenting a passive UHF transponder, the HARfid LT 86 (HT), with a reading range of up to four meters, as a new product for a complete series. The novel technology used in these RFID transponders from HARTING offers a high degree of mechanical and chemical resistance, opening up uses in fields such as the foodstuff industry or medical systems in which vessels and instruments are subjected to disinfecting and sterilization cycles for maintaining a high standard of hygiene.

HARTING RFID products provide substantial progress for process control, production control and logistics optimization in real-time, as well as cost savings potential in industrial automation and other industrial applications.
