Vishays New Double-Diode Bus Port-Protection Array Provides Capacitance of 1.5 pF Typical Per Diode and Maximum Leakage Current of <0.1 µA in Ultra-Compact LLP75 Leadless Package

Device Features Low Profile of 0.6 mm for Board Space Savings in Portable Electronics

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - May 23, 2008 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today released a compact new double-diode ESD-protection array designed to protect dual high-speed USB ports or up to two other high-frequency signal lines against transient voltage signals.

The VBUS052BD-HTF is packaged in the leadless LLP75, with a 1.6-mm by 1.6-mm footprint and an ultra-low profile of 0.6 mm. This tiny package, which uses an environmentally friendly 'green' molding compound, minimizes the board space required for active ESD protection in a wide range of portable electronics. Typical applications will include portable and handheld computing, communications, industrial, and medical systems.

The new device features a low capacitance of 1.5 pF typical per diode and a low maximum leakage current of <0.1 µA at the working voltage of 5 V. The array offers a breakthrough voltage of typical 7.9 V (at 1 mA), and a maximum clamping voltage of 16 V at 3 A.

The bus port-protection array provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC 61000 4 2 (ESD) at ±15 kV (contact and air discharge) and offers a high surge current >3 A in accordance with IEC 61000 4 5. It is also compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.

Samples and production quantities of the new VBUS052BD-HTF double-diode ESD bus port-protection array in the compact LLP75 package are available now, with lead times of 10 weeks for large orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery is $0.12 each in 100,000-piece quantities.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., a Fortune 1,000 Company listed on the NYSE (VSH), is one of the world's largest manufacturers of discrete semiconductors (diodes, rectifiers, transistors, and optoelectronics and selected ICs) and passive electronic components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, sensors, and transducers). These components are used in virtually all types of electronic devices and equipment, in the industrial, computing, automotive, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace, and medical markets. Its product innovations, successful acquisition strategy, and ability to provide "one-stop shop" service have made Vishay a global industry leader.
