Vectron International Expands High-Temperature Frequency Control Product Portfolio with Announcement of New VCXO

High-Performance VX-400 Designed for Operation in Harsh and Extreme Temperature Environments Including Oil and Gas Exploration

HUDSON, N.H., June 18 - Vectron International, a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of Frequency Control, Sensor, and Hybrid Product solutions, today announced the expansion of its high-temperature frequency control product portfolio with the launch of its VX-400, a new voltage controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO) for harsh environment applications. Designed for continuous operation in temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius, Vectron's new VX-400 offers customers exceptional phase noise and high shock and vibration performance for extreme environment applications, including oil and gas exploration, industrial process control, and military and aerospace applications, which require robust electronic systems that survive beyond the MIL-STD requirement of 125 degrees Celsius. Vectron will showcase this new high-temperature VCXO in Booth 1501 at the 2008 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium, to be held June 17-19, 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia.

"As global energy demand increases, and 'deep-well exploration' and 'intelligent completion' become industry watchwords, our customers are increasingly seeking robust electronic systems that can withstand the extreme environments typical of downhole drilling applications," said Greg Smolka, vice president, Industrial, Military and Space business unit, Vectron International. "Unlike other electronics serving this market, Vectron's new VX-400 high temperature VCXO was designed, from the ground-up, to operate in some of the most severe environments on the planet. Rather than simply de-rating our standard products for high-temp operation, we've leveraged our core competencies in quartz crystal circuit design and fabrication, and high-temperature packaging to create a precision frequency control product that operates reliably over industry-leading lifetimes for these markets."

Vectron has more than a decade of experience designing and manufacturing high-temperature electronics modules for the oil and gas exploration market. Specifically designed for operation in such harsh environment applications, the new VX-400 leverages Vectron's unique crystal resonator mounting, as well as its substrate and component attachment schemes to ensure reliable component performance under shock and vibration. The new high-temperature VCXO also guarantees an Absolute Pull Range (APR) up to ± 50ppm over the entire operating temperature range from -55 degrees Celsius to +200 degrees Celsius, allowing customers to maintain lock as well as VCXO calibration over the entire operating temperature range.

Key features include:
o Standard 4 pin DIP package
o Output frequency of 10MHz to 30MHz
o Continuous operating temperature range from -55 degrees Celsius to +200 degrees Celsius,
o Exceptionally low jitter (<0.2ps RMS) and phase noise (-150dBc/Hz at 10KHz offset)
o Compliant crystal mount package for high shock and vibration
o 3.3Vdc or 5Vdc operation

The VX-400 is currently available. For more information on the new VX-400 or any Vectron products, please contact a customer service representative at 1-88-VECTRON-1 or visit http://www.vectron.com/
