Gerber Scientific Targeting the Industrial Market with New Cutter

First of New Series of Cutting Solutions from its Gerber Technology Business Unit

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn., June 11 - Gerber Scientific, Inc., a worldwide leader in integrated automation solutions, today announces the launch of its new GERBERcutter® Z7 multi-ply cutter. The Z7 cutter will target primarily the automotive, aerospace and technical textiles markets, which account for approximately 30%-40% of Gerber Technology's annual revenue, growing at more than 10% per year.

The Z7 is designed to help manufacturers meet continuous improvement initiatives and pressures within their supply chain to maximize quality, turn time and ability to report performance metrics. With environmental concerns and energy consumption regulations mounting, a key value to the Z7's design is its increased efficiency and reduced power usage.

The GERBERcutter Z7 combines precision with efficiency to consistently cut the most demanding materials to the tightest of tolerances. It maximizes throughput and yield while cutting intricate shapes, multiple hole sizes and notches with high accuracy across a full range of material types and thicknesses, including bi-laminate foams, technical textiles and high-loft fabrics. The Z7 enables manufacturers to shift from processes requiring traditional die cutting to automated knife technology in order to efficiently meet changing industry demands. In applications such as automotive seating, manufacturers are running smaller volumes of an increased variety of products. Developing multiple dies is more expensive and inhibits rapid shifts in production. Automated knife technology and programmable machine settings increase process agility and accuracy.

"We are excited about this, our third new product launched this year, following the earlier introduction of the Solara ion(TM) for the Sign Making and Specialty Graphics industry and the ALPS for the Ophthalmic Lens Processing industry", stated Marc T. Giles, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gerber Scientific, Inc.
