Littelfuse Adds New Fuses That Manage Higher Current and Voltage for Ballast Enclosures

New fuse offerings expand the 350V 2AG rated devices for electrical ballast design.

DES PLAINES, IL - June 12, 2008 - Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:LFUS) today introduced two new fuse series for electrical ballasts used in fluorescent lighting and other applications. The 208 and 209 Series expand Littelfuse's offering of 350V 2AG-size fuses in order to provide ballast designers with a wider range of current ratings.

Fluorescent lights are trending towards smaller form factors while energy demands are increasing. As a result, engineers need a wider range of current ratings in the fuses they use in their designs. The addition of the 208/209 Series fuses enables engineers to design applications that achieve optimum performance.

The 208/209 Series 2AG size fuses provide the same performance characteristics as 3AG size products and yet occupy one third the space. The 208 Series fuses are quick-acting, and the 209 Series fuses are slow-blo type. They have an interrupting rating of 100A at 350V AC and are available as a cartridge or with axial leads. Additionally, sleeves can be added to the fuses, and the fuses are available in various lead forming configurations. This gives engineers the flexibility required to design the optimal circuit board layout.

The 208/209 Series fuses are lead-free and fully RoHS compliant, environmentally friendly products. Agency approvals include UR, CE and PSE.

As a market leader in fuse technology, Littelfuse offers OEMs production capacity for high volume demand, and fast production ramp-up for short lead times. Coupling high quality and a global delivery network, Littelfuse provides leading circuit protection technologies and industry leading application support.

Availability.

The 208 Series and 209 Series fuses are available from stock, in quantities of 1000. Samples are available by contacting a Littelfuse sales representative.
