EAO's Touch-Sensitive Switch Opens Doors in Public Transport

May 2008

EAO, the expert partner for Human Machine Interfaces, introduces a unique touch-sensitive switch, designed to suit new-generation public transport vehicles, particularly buses, trains and trams fitted with large areas of glass.

Many new bus designs today require door opening switches that can be mounted to glass. The Series 58 touch-sensitive switch mounts directly by adhesive without the need to drill holes. It will even operate through double-glazing of up to 16mm thick.

It is fitted with an electronic switching element and contains no moving parts, so it is extremely durable and offers a long service life. Two LED's (red and green) enable the switch to change from red to green when touched.

The touch-surface is made of anodized aluminum. It is surrounded by a durable, thermoplastic housing, which is available in a range of bright colors including red, green, yellow and blue.

It is offered in two versions: single- and double-sided. EAO can engrave a wide range of standard or customized legends on the touch surface to suit the application.

The Series 58 shares the same quality of build and design with EAO's Series 56 range, which has become the industry's most widely recognized door-opener.

Key features:
o IP67 protection (Outer housing)
o Operates within a temperature range of -40°C to +80°C
o Bright LED illumination resists shock and vibration
o Meets CE and e1 standards
o Large touch surface ideal for permanent legend marking and Braille text
