OMRON Expands UHF RFID Reader V750 Series to Support Major Retailers with Supply Chain Operations in Mexico and Brazil

SCHAUMBURG, IL (May 2008)-OMRON Electronics LLC has announced an extension of the EPCglobal-certified UHF RFID reader/writer V750 product line that supports retailer supply chain operations in Mexico and Brazil. Recent standardization of frequencies for RFID has opened growth opportunities in manufacturing, distribution and asset management applications across Latin America. The new RFID readers provide Omron's customers the flexibility to maintain a common UHF Gen 2 platform in the US and across Latin America. Companies just starting to use RFID for supply chain operations in Mexico and Brazil can benefit using a proven, state-of-the-art reader technology.

"The new V750 readers for Mexico and Brazil will enable companies that supply Wal-Mart and Sam's Club to unify supply chain processes across the Americas to support dock-to-shelf tracking," said Sal Scafidi, Strategic Business Manager of Omron RFID. "Companies looking to implement RFID technology to increase efficiencies within their supply chain process, manufacturing work flow and asset tracking will find our V750 platform offers a tried-and-tested product with a solid reputation in the US and Asia-Pacific countries including China, Korea and Japan."

Omron's V750 is a high-powered, fixed-type reader/writer that is EPCglobal certified and Class 1 Gen2-compliant (ISO/IEC 18000-6 Type C). In addition to high-speed processing, the V750 features sophisticated functions that allow deployment in a variety of situations; for example, its auto tuning function self-adjusts read parameters according to tag density, while a robust dense reader mode effectively shuts out interference. The V750 can report signal strength for each read, and also offers practical functions that help reduce information processing loads and wiring in upstream systems and simplify setup, tuning and operation.

V750 Reader/Writer Main Features - Feature Explanation

o Single Access - High speed reading of individual tags (ideal for item-level tagging).
o Multi Access and Auto Tuning - Reads all tags in the read range, optimizing the sequence automatically according to the number of tags detected.
o External I/O Control and Self-Operation - Triggered by external signal[s], the reader can conduct simple judgment or control device[s] without instruction from the host.
o Channel Monitor - Shows the surrounding radio wave level by channel.
o DRM (Dense Reader Mode) - Prevents mutual interference when multiple readers are used in close proximity.
o Filtering - Enables the reader to communicate with selected tags that meet pre-specified conditions.
o Power Setting by Antenna - Antenna output can be set individually when more than one antenna is used.
o Signal Strength Measurement - The reader can measure received signals from tags and report signal strength for each read for diagnostic purposes.

*Product specifications and functions may vary depending on the telecommunications and related laws of the country for which the product is designed.
