Flame-Retardant Material meets IEC 60695 requirements.


June 3, 2008 - Vydyne® GW350 flame-retardant material complies with International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) 60695 series of standards, which requires materials to endure fire hazard and toxicity tests to ensure product safety. Designed for E/E applications, especially those used in manufacturing household appliances, product is formulated to exhibit flow properties enabling processability.

Solutia® Unveils New Grade of Vydyne® Product


GW350 offers manufacturers enhanced flame-retardant properties

SHANGHAI ( April 17, 2008 ) - Solutia Inc., one of the world's largest integrated manufacturers of nylon 66, announces its latest, enhanced, flame-retardant product, GW350. Developed under the Vydyne® brand name, GW350 offers superior toughness and elongation and meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) requirements. GW350 is a material primarily designed for E/E applications, especially those used in manufacturing household appliances.

GW350 satisfies the IEC's 60695 series of standards, which requires materials to endure rigorous fire hazard and toxicity tests to ensure product safety.

"We've focused diligently on making a new Vydyne product that meets IEC's high standards for safe use in circuit appliances in households," says Steve Manning, R&D technology manager, Nylon Plastics and Polymers, Solutia Inc.

In addition to meeting safety requirements, GW350 is specially formulated to exhibit superior flow properties for excellent processability, while also providing added durability and flame-retardant performance. "Solutia is proud of this new product, and it shows our commitment to developing products with the high-performance properties our customers require," adds Manning

Vydyne PA66(TM) resins and compounds are primarily used in injection molding and extrusion applications in the automotive, consumer, electrical, electronic and industrial markets.
