American Ballast Develops Energy Efficient Electronic High Intensity Discharge Ballast

Electronic HID ballast designed to replace magnetic HID ballast

LAS VEGAS, Lightfair International, Booth 1881, (May 28, 2008) - American Ballast, a
global commercial and residential power solutions company with worldwide manufacturing
capabilities, has introduced a new line of high-efficiency electronic high intensity discharge (HID) ballasts that offer significant energy savings versus the standard magnetic product.

Designed to replace magnetic HID ballasts for pulse start metal halide lamps, the lightweight electronic HID ballasts address the need for high-performance, energy-efficient lighting systems.

American Ballast's electronic HID ballasts provide significant performance
improvements to metal halide lighting systems, including higher efficiency, greater lumen maintenance, longer lamp life and enhanced color control.

"The new line of electronic HID ballasts offer our customers a cost-saving solution that considerably reduces energy consumption and maintenance costs. The advanced electronic HID ballasts provide superior lumen maintenance with pulse start lamps and extend usable lamp life, reducing re-lamping maintenance cost and lowering 10-year lifecycle cost tremendously, " said C. H. Wu, American Ballast's R&D Manager.

"American Ballast has made ballast conversion from magnetic to electronic a simple and easy transition that will provide customers long-term savings."

The electronic HID ballast operates quietly at a high frequency with features including
auto restart and shutdown function, 65-90 color rendering index, open circuit protection, short circuit protection, igniter failure protection and surge protection. The minimum lamp starting temperature is -30°C and the ballast is potted for cooler operation and longer ballast life.

The new electronic HID ballasts are ideal for a wide-range of indoor and outdoor
applications including supermarkets, malls, industrial sites, parking lots, distribution centers, and warehouses. The electronic HID ballast product family meets FCC rules and regulations and ANSI requirements, and complies with all applicable state and federal efficiency standards, as well as meeting EISA and RoHS standards. Through its advanced global technologies and extensive burn-in, full-functional and advanced-life testing procedures, American Ballast confidently offers a three year warranty on the electronic HID ballast product family. All American Ballast
lighting solutions are UL and CuL Listed.
