New MAG Fadal VMC 4525 Offers High Performance, Precision and Value for Machining of Mold and Die Parts

Advanced machine design features 1,359 mm x 635 mm table, 15,000 rpm spindle, ±4 µm tolerances, and digital Infimatic control with integral CAD/CAM software package for mold and die

May 2008 - MAG Fadal raises performance in precision machining of high-value mold and die parts, introducing at IMTS 08 a newly designed VMC 4525 that combines 1,359 mm x 635 mm (53.5" x 25") table with 15,000 RPM air/oil spindle and new Infimatic Freedom NC(TM)200 control featuring special Mold and Die package. The VMC 4525 will show those capabilities with mold machining demonstrations at the MAG Industrial Automation Systems booth A-8218, the largest at IMTS.

The high-speed spindle enables faster axis feeds and finer finishes, while air/oil injection yields the extended duty cycles needed for mold and die machining. Proven robust C-frame architecture features wide base, heavily ribbed cast iron construction and integral flame-hardened box ways with large 40 mm ball screws, providing excellent vibration damping to deliver heavy cuts with tolerances to ±4 µm (0.00016"). XYZ travels of 1143 x 635 x 609 mm (45" x 25" x 24") allow processing flexibility - handling large mold workpieces or enabling simultaneous machining of matching die halves.

Designed specifically for metal-cutting machine tool applications, the digital Infimatic Freedom NC 200 extends the VMC's capabilities for performance and precision. Specially configured for mold and die machining with Duet Dual Processor, the control delivers 1,500 blocks per second to precisely perform 2D and 3D contouring cuts at higher speeds and feeds without lag, dwell or run-on.

The Freedom NC200 with Mold and Die Package includes:
o GibbsCAM SolidSurfacer® high-level surface and solid modeling software
o super-responsive servo loop closure for enhanced accuracy
o PurePath(TM) algorithms for smooth surface finish.

Integral graphical 3D software enables simplified programming. The dual processor allows background editing during machining, while Advanced NC Editor VeriCode(TM) offers error-free programming.

The NC200 control is compatible with standard G Codes, as well as part programs that have been created for Fadal CNC controls, allowing easy transfer of work to the VMC 4525.

Engineered for maximum reliability, the Freedom NC200 features fanless cooling, flash memory storage, all surface-mount circuit board construction, and water-resistant panel. A distributed architecture enables electrical cabinet optimization.
