Atlona Technologies' 4X2 HDMI Matrix Switches Are Now 1.3 Compatible (AT-HDMI-42M)

05-13-08

Atlona Technologies has replaced its entire inventory of 4X2 matrix switches with new HDMI 1.3 matrix switches. As more and more products adopt the newest HDMI standard of 1.3, Atlona Technologies has made a bold move, replacing their stock of 4X2 matrix switches with switches that implement a new chip set making them fully HDMI 1.3 compatible. These switches feature a RS-232 control port, and have a full command set available online. Where most manufacturers charge extra for these features, Atlona's 4X2 matrix switches will retain the same low MSRP of $849.

Atlona was one of the first manufacturers to introduce a 1.3b certified HDMI cable over a year ago. They have now set their sights on updating their entire product line to be capable of surpassing HDMI 1.3 standards.

General HDMI specifications require enough bandwidth to support all current HDTV formats. HDMI 1.3 increases that bandwidth to 10.2 Gbps (225 MHz), giving the ability to support higher resolutions, such as 1440p, deep color, and higher frame rates.

When HD content progresses to the next step, these units will make the transition seamlessly.
