Models MAX4928A/MAX4928B high-speed passive switches utilize n-channel switches to route differential signals between graphics and memory controller hub and either PCIe 2.0 socket or DisplayPort connector. They feature 6 pairs of bidirectional, DPDT switches and return loss greater than 12.5 dB at 2.5 Ghz to support data rates of greater than 5 Gbps. Model MAX4928A is designed for ATX motherboard form factor, while MAX4928B is intended for BTX form factor.

High-Speed Passive Switches Handle Both DisplayPort and PCIe 2.0 Data Rates
o The MAX4928A/MAX4928B are high-speed passive switches for routing DisplayPort and PCI Express (PCIe) signals in desktop and notebook PC applications.
o These devices route signals between a GMCH and either a PCIe 2.0 socket or DisplayPort connector.
o To enable this performance, the MAX4928A/MAX4928B feature ultra-low on-capacitance and return loss to support data rates of greater than 5Gbps.
o The MAX4928A is ideal for the ATX motherboard form factor for PCs, while the MAX4928B is designed for the BTX form factor.
SUNNYVALE, CA-May 1, 2008-Maxim Integrated Products (Pink OTC Markets: MXIM) introduces the MAX4928A/MAX4928B ultra-high-speed, 1:2 or 2:1, DisplayPort(TM)/PCI Express® (PCIe®) passive switches. These devices utilize n-channel switches to route differential signals between a graphics and memory controller hub (GMCH) and either a PCIe 2.0 socket or DisplayPort connector. Each device features six pairs of bidirectional, double-pole/double-throw (DPDT) switches, thus allowing a single device to perform all switching. Maintaining a high level of signal integrity, the MAX4928A/MAX4928B feature very low return loss (> 12.5dB at 2.5Ghz) to support data rates of greater than 5.0Gbps. These devices meet PCIe 2.0 specifications and the new VESA standards for DisplayPort applications, thus making them ideal for desktop and notebook PCs.
The MAX4928A is designed for the ATX motherboard form factor, while the MAX4928B is intended for the BTX form factor. Both devices operate from a single 3.3V supply, and are fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range. They are available in an industry-standard, 5mm x 11mm, 56-pin TQFN package. Prices start at $3.00 (1000-up, FOB USA).
Maxim Integrated Products, a two billion dollar company, designs and manufactures ICs for analog and mixed-signal applications. The company has designed over 5400 products, more than any other analog semiconductor company, in the 25 years since its founding.
