Inserts are designed for machining stainless steel.
May 15, 2008 -
KC9225(TM) inserts reduce chip hammering and built-up edge conditions, preventing insert damage in applications demanding continuous to lightly interrupted cuts at high cutting speeds. Deformation resistance combined with sharp cutting edges makes units suitable for machining austenitic stainless steels, when machining at speeds in excess of 550 sfm. Applications include medical and food industries, flange manufacturing, chemical industry, and oil and petrochemical businesses.
LATROBE, PA - Higher cutting speeds, longer tool life, and increased productivity when machining stainless steels are what metalworking customers can expect from the newly upgraded line of KC9225(TM) inserts, part of the KENNA PERFECT(TM) turning system from Kennametal Inc.
Specifically, a new coating construction helps increase cutting speeds between 20 and 40 percent compared to competitors' products. Enhanced post-coat finishing processes reduce chip hammering and built-up edge conditions, extending tool life and preventing insert damage, particularly in applications demanding continuous to lightly interrupted cuts at high cutting speeds.
"The optimal combination of toughness and deformation resistance combined with sharper cutting edges should make KC9225 inserts the first choice for machining austenitic stainless steels, when machining at speeds in excess of 550 sfm," says Kent Mizgalski, Manager of Global Lathe Systems Engineering.
The new KC9225 inserts and the KENNA PERFECT turning system are recommended for applications in the medical and food industries as well as flange manufacturing, the chemical industry, and oil and petrochemical businesses, or wherever improved cutting performance in stainless steels is required.
