WIN Enterprises SBC Features 45nm Quad-Core Intel® Xeon Processors with Extended Lifecycle, Times Two

North Andover, Mass - May 6, 2008 - WIN Enterprises announces support for the 45nm Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processors L5410 and L5408 with extended lifecycle support on its MB-60630, dual-socketed PICMG 1.3 form factor Single Board Computer (SBC). The SBC enables OEMs to offer small, server-class appliances with the high performance of eight processing cores. Applications include intense computing applications, such as military and medical imaging, scientific analysis, digital media, and oil/gas exploration.

The new line of Intel Xeon processors feature 45nm process technology. In addition to offering greater processing power on a smaller footprint, the inherent efficiency of this nanotechnology requires less power to deliver greater performance than previous generations of processors. It has the further advantage of doing this with less heat generation. This means that OEM customers can better meet today's end-user market concerns for ever greater performance, smaller size, less power consumption and simplified cooling. The Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processors L5410 and L5408 enable OEMs to have long-life solutions to their processing needs.

With a processing clock speed of 2.13GHz, the Intel L5408 has a power envelope of just 40W. It features 12MB of onboard L2 cache saving data fetching steps from the North Bridge to enable ultra-high throughput in intense applications. The Intel L5410 processor supports a core frequency of 2.33GHz at 50W.

"WIN is excited to be making 45nm Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processor technology available to its embedded OEM customers," said Chiman Patel, CEO/CTO of WIN Enterprises. "This should prove a significant advancement for any OEM with intense computing solutions that are restricted to PC-size appliances."

"WIN Enterprises has been an early adopter of multi-core processors from Intel," said Joe Jensen, general manager, Embedded Computing Division, Intel. "The new SBC from Win Enterprises will help enable embedded developers bring high performance and energy efficient applications to market."

The MB-60630 is a feature-rich embedded solution that supports Linux and MS Windows.
