ITT Develops High Reliability Stainless Steel D-Subminiature Connectors

Corrosion resistant shells meet JEDEC standards for RoHS compliance.

LAS VEGAS, NV - May 5, 2008 - ITT Interconnect Solutions, a leading global manufacturer
and supplier of connectors, interconnects, and cable assemblies, has developed a corrosion resistant variation of its versatile D-subminiature connectors. ITT Cannon's stainless steel Dsub shells meet stringent requirements for corrosion resistance under MIL-Spec "P" grade stainless steel, while also meeting JEDEC standards for RoHS compliance.

"As the originator of the D-sub connector family, a number of our customers have come to us with the need for connectors that withstand highly corrosive environments and meet various specifications," said Keith Teichmann, director of marketing for ITT Interconnect Solutions.

"The stainless shells are both RoHS and MIL-spec grade, and now represent a standard
addition to our full D-sub product offering." The stainless steel D-subminiature shells are ideal for a variety of applications including telecommunications, marine, aerospace, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical. The stainless steel shells are available in sizes E, A, B, C and D, including 9 through 50 contact patterns in standard sizes and 15 through 78 contact patterns in high density sizes. Maximum current per contact is 40A. The shells have been tested for continuous exposure to salt spray and corrosive chemicals.

Customers ordering stainless steel D-sub connectors can use the base D-Sub part number and add the modifier "F225" to the end of the part number to specify stainless steel.
Typical pricing for the stainless steel D-subminiature shells ranges from approximately $3 to $20 each in quantities of 250 pieces. Lead time is from 6 to 8 weeks.
