VarTech Introduces Significant Technological Advancements to Its Popular All-Weather, All-Terrain, Sunlight Readable Series of LCD Display Systems; Tremendously Improving Nearly Every Feature

VarTech has recently released the latest series of its Fully-Submersible, Sunlight Readable, Ultra-Rugged IP68 (NEMA 6P), All-Weather, All-Terrain LCD displays. Engineered from top to bottom solely by VarTech's extensive engineering team and assembled exclusively at its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Horsham, Pennsylvania, these new products bring tremendous technological innovation to the marketplace.

Significant advancements include:

The use of:
o A Harsher Duty LCD Panel with VarTech's Optically Bonded Protective Overlay
o True High Brightness, Low-Power, high reliability Solid State LED Backlighting
o VarTech's proprietary Enhanced Light Transmission Technology (ELTT)
o VarTech's advanced VTLED driver technology
o VarTech's proprietary Harsh Environment Controller Board
o A Harsh Duty Variable Power Supply 10 to 36 VDC
o VarTech's new Armor Touch ultra-rugged touch screen technology

Improved characteristics such as:
o Wider operational temperature capabilities (-45°C to +70°C)
o Greatly improved Intrinsic (nighttime mode) Contrast Ratios
o Greatly improved Extrinsic (direct sunlight mode) Contrast Ratios
o A multitude of additional video input configurations
o More mounting options
o Greater shock and vibration protection
o Higher native resolutions
o Much deeper dimming ratios (in most instances more than 10000:1)
o Much wider viewing angles

VarTech offers IP68 All-Weather LCDs ranging in size from 8.4", 10.4", 12.1", to 15.0". All have native XGA resolution (1024 x 768) except for the 8.4" which is SVGA resolution (800 x 600) but is offered with optional native XGA resolution. Brightness levels range from 900 to 1400 nits of true luminance using VarTech's cutting-edge LED backlighting technology and ELTT. This technology is far superior to other solutions which incorporate poor performing Transflective filters. As well, VarTech's new LED technology increases operational temperature range capabilities, significantly lowers power draw when compared to that of traditional CCFL backlighting, superior shock and vibration protection, significantly improved advanced deep dimming to black, instantaneous warm-up, little or no EMI leakage, and a 200% average increase in MTBF operation. Coupled with VarTech's VBOND optical bonding and VarTech's ELTT technology these displays achieve the best true sunlight readability throughout the rugged LCD marketplace today.

VarTech's All-Weather series of LCD displays offers Armor Touch, a new ruggedized resistive touch screen technology, which delivers superior impact resistance, contamination resistance, image clarity, and very good light transmission levels. A video demonstration of the Armor Touch capabilities is available on VarTech's website.

This truly rugged harsh duty LCD series complies with MIL-STD-901D (shock), MIL-STD-167 (vibration), MIL-STD-810F (environmental), Marine IEC 60529 and Marine IEC 60945, and EMI/EMC: FCC Class B with optional MIL-STD-461F. The VarTech All-Weather series also offers NVIS (Full Night Vision) per MIL-STD-3009 Class B Gen 3 compliance.
