Thermal Flow Sensor can withstand explosive environment.

April 11, 2008 - Featuring 9 mm SS tube, SS 23.400 ATEX3 Thermal Flow Sensor can measure flow velocity and detect direction of clean air and gas flow. It offers atmospheric pressure range of 700-1,300 hPa and power supply range of 12-24 Vdc. Including 2 switching outputs to indicate flow direction and limit value, microcontroller based unit provides serial interface that allows on-site programming via PC and adaptation of response time, threshold, and switching polarity to operation requirements.

SCHMIDT® Flow-Sensor SS 23.400 ATEX3

SCHMIDT Technology expands the range of products by offering a new thermal flow sensor for the use in explosive environment. Designed for the operation according the ATEX-directives, the sensor falls in the category 3G and can be applied in ATEX-zone 2.

The insertion sensor with a 9 mm stainless steel tube can measure the flow velocity and detect the direction of clean air and gas flow. The microcontroller based electronic unit is integrated in the tube. The precise sensors tip contains a super fast sensor element in an aerodynamically de-signed and mechanical protected chamber.

The analogue output for the measuring result provides a voltage or current signal. Two switching outputs indicate the flow direction and a limit value.

A serial interface allows on-site programming of the sensor via PC and the adaptation of, response time, threshold and switching polarity to the operation requirements.

Applications: paint-spray lines, gas flow measuring, exhaust monitoring, flow measuring in medical equipments and test plants

Technical Data:
device identification II 3G Ex nA T4
measuring range: 1 / 2,5 / 10 / 20 m/s (in both directions)
Pressure: atmospheric, 700 ...1300 hPa
power supply: 12 ... 24 VDC
Outputs: 0 / 4 ... 20 mA, 0 ... 2V / 5V / 10V
